The Police department will begin accepting applications on September 13th and the open application period will last through October 11th. Interested parties can find more information online at: bit.ly/NHPDjobs.

Over the next few weeks, Chief Renee Dominguez will host information sessions on the recruitment process. This is the place for individuals who’re interested in applying, but have questions, to get their questions answered. Those sessions will be held:

  • Saturday, September 11th from 1 – 3 PM (Training Academy, 480 Sherman Parkway)
  • Thursday, September 16th from 7 – 9 PM (Online via Zoom)
  • Monday, September 20th from 6 – 8 PM (Ice Rink, 1080 State Street)
  • Thursday, September 30th from 7 – 8 PM (Fair Haven Library, 182 Grand Ave)

Currently, our Police Department has about 70 vacancies. Recruiting more officers and closing that gap is a top priority for my administration. And, importantly we’d like to fill as many of those spots as possible with New Haven residents.

We need people with integrity and a commitment to making their community a better place to step up and join our department as part of this next class. If you’ve ever thought about a career in law enforcement – I’d encourage you to apply. Otherwise, please take a moment and forward this email to a family member or friend who might be able to make a difference by serving our community as a New Haven Police Officer.

Always serving you,
Mayor Justin Elicker
