On Sunday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 20, from 5–7 pm, the New Haven Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will be hosting an online, two-part workshop, “Improvising at the Organ in 17th- and 18th-century style.”
Presenting the two sesions will be organist and composer Ethan Haman, who is currently pursuing graduate study in organ at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music.
This interactive improvisation workshop begins with simple counterpoint and progresses to ground bass forms and chorale preludes. A PDF handout will be provided — have a keyboard handy to play along!
The event will be held via Zoom. Registration is required. The workshop will be recorded. Visit newhavenago.org to learn more and register.
