Colonial Concert XLII
Saturday, November 27, 2021

Maestro James Sinclair and organist Manuel Piazza
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The Colonial Concert is coming! On Saturday, November 27 at 8 p.m., the estimable Orchestra New England will present its annual “Concert of Mufick” in the style of the time of the Revolutionary War. This is the 42nd year of a tradition that brings alive the music of Handel, Haydn, Mozart, and other composers popular in the late 18th century. The concert will be held at the historic United Church on the Green at the corner of Temple and Elm Streets in New Haven.

The orchestra and soloists will be attired fully in 18th-century finery; the church will be festooned for Christmas and lit in candlelight. Mrs. Abigail Adams, wife of the future president of  the United States, will be in attendance.

Maestro James Sinclair will lead a performance of Haydn’s great Symphony No. 82 in C Major. The spectacular tenor Ryan Capozzo will sing arias by Mozart. Manuel Piazza (of the Yale School of Music) will command the mighty organ in a work by J. S. Bach.

This is a New Haven tradition not to be missed. Concert tickets (at $40 and $25) are available from Orchestra New England by calling 203-777-4690 or online at www.orchestranewengland.org.
