ARTIST SERVICES

Hospitality Manager

The Hospitality Manager plans and implements all meal and food service needs for the artists and staff at the Festival. The job involves working with community partners to negotiate food donations and discounts, and fulfilling artist rider needs. The Hospitality Manager will manage a team of 2 – 3 assistants and/or interns, and will coordinate with Development, and Production as needs and opportunities overlap.

Requirements: The Hospitality Manager is a hybrid job. In the planning phase, the Hospitality Manager will need to be extremely organized and detail oriented to understand and organize the hospitality needs of the Festival. There is also a significant Development aspect of the job in coordinating as much donated food and flowers as possible. Later, the Hospitality Manger must be willing and able to roll up his/her sleeves and get venues set up and ready to go one minute, and pass champagne for an opening night toast the next. The Hospitality Manager should be competent with MS Office and should be able to lift 25 pounds and spend a good deal of time on his/her feet.

Hospitality Assistants

Hospitality Assistants are responsible for the organization, delivery, set-up and strike of artist green room food, beverages, and other hospitality items. Hospitality Assistants also set up and strike post-show receptions, and act as hosts throughout these events.

Requirements: Must be organized and have the ability to safely lift 25 lbs. Able to set-up/strike food quickly, cleanly, efficiently, and unobtrusively; and have a flair with flowers, food, and fun. Food service experience preferred.

Artist Services Coordinators

Artist Services Coordinators are the principle liaison between artists and the Festival. ASCs are each assigned several companies and will fulfill artist needs as well as communicate/coordinate artist needs with appropriate Festival departments including Production, Public Relations, Audience Services, and Hospitality.

Requirements: Theatrical Company Management or related experience required. Must have calm and efficient problem solving and multi-tasking abilities as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. ASCs must be “people-persons”, able to effectively communicate not only with artists from all over the world, but also with technicians and managers.

PRODUCTION & OPERATIONS

Project Manager

Project Managers are the primary liaisons with artists on the ground in New Haven. Primary duties include managing contract fulfillment for assigned artists and speakers on behalf of Artist Services and Production Departments. Competency in both Company Management and Venue Coordination / Stage Management required. Must have strong organizational and communication skills.

Audio Crew

The Festival Audio Crew works under the direction of the Audio Supervisor to install, operate and strike audio systems at all Festival venues and events.

Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of current audio systems, some experience of live mixing; and the ability to work with artists and the general public. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Lighting Crew

The Festival Lighting Crew works under the direction of the Lighting Supervisor to install, operate, and strike lighting systems at all Festival venues and events.

Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of current lighting equipment, ability to hang and cable a plot under supervision; and basic board programming skills. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Operations Crew/Drivers

Operations crew members work under the direction of the Operations Manager in the safe and timely installation, strike, and storage of a broad array of infrastructure elements, equipment, and signage; and the distribution and retrieval of materials, collateral, and supplies.

Requirements: Hardworking and strong. Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds. Good communication skills, flexible, good humored. Three of the four crew members must also be drivers, age 25 or over with a clean driver’s license, comfortable driving a cargo van and mid-sized box truck.

Outdoor Event Crew/Carpenters

The Greens Crew work under the Outdoor Tech Director to install, maintain and strike all Festival scenic elements and properties.

Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of theatrical carpentry, ability to use hand tools and some shop tools under supervision. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Tour Coordinator

The Tour Coordinator is responsible for assisting with communication and coordination with tour providers; managing the registration of tour-goers and capacity issues as necessary; setting up at the starting point(s) of tours; welcoming tour goers, talking about Festival events, and introducing tour leaders. The Tour Coordinator will complete an event report at the conclusion each tour.

RequirementsMust have transportation. Tours begin in a variety of locations in and around New Haven, and the Tour Coordinator will need to be self-sufficient in getting to and from tour locations, carrying signage and supplies. Must have an outgoing personality and ability to speak before large groups of people, and manage crowds. Ability to lift and carry signage and materials, good navigational skills, and adequate skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Outdoor work required.

AUDIENCE SERVICES

House Management Captain

The House Management Captain is responsible for front-of-house management and operations at all Festival events – free, ticketed, indoor, and outdoor. The House Management Captain will develop a master schedule and HM training materials, hire, train, and supervise a House Management team of 7-10 people, and oversee their scheduling, job performance, and payroll. Attention to detail and safety protocols is a must.

Requirements: Must have management or supervisory experience in theatrical house management; excellent customer service skills; and solid computer abilities.

Audience Services Team Member: Box Office/House Managers

Provide on-site box office and house management services at Festival events.

Requirements: Theatrical House Management and/or Box Office experience preferred. Must be calm and pleasant under pressure; genuinely welcoming, and always mindful of the safety and comfort of patrons. Must have excellent customer service skills, and be comfortable managing crowds. Must have the ability to manage teams of volunteer ushers, and quickly and accurately calculate, complete, and record ticket sales.
